Tulip

Hi! My Name Is Tulip

We're happy to tell you that Tulip has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Tulip is a sweet cuddle bug who is still learning the world around her. She is shy and will take some love and patience before she will trust you and come out of her shell, but we are confident she will get there with the right family!

Tulip is 8 months old, and she is crate trained and mostly potty trained. Her crate is her safe space, so she loves being in there with a soft toy and a blanket. She does not whine when left in the crate and she always sleeps through the night!

She has had very few accidents, and the accidents were only during instances where her potty schedule was broken. We take her out every few hours and she has been responding great to the structured schedule. She immediately knows it’s time to do her business when we do take her out.

She has not found her voice yet; she rarely barks or whines. She does not mind having her harness and leash on her, but she is still learning how to walk on a leash.  She is also still learning what toys are. So far, we know she likes soft cloth toys over hard toys.

Tulip is still very wary of new situations but adapts very quickly. She does great with her two foster siblings which are smaller in size than her. Since her foster siblings are older than her, they do not play together but they do love napping together! She has not been tested around cats or very large dogs, but I believe her laid back personality will be able to adapt to either.

She has interacted with older kids who know to be gentle with her and she loved the attention she got from them.

Tulip loves to be outside on a nice day, but also to watch tv with her family at night. She is not super active - after a few minutes of running around the yard she does prefer to lay back down. When she is in front of the TV - whether it be on your lap or on the couch/floor - she will snuggle in and settle down for the night. If you are looking for a new, super soft, super sweet couch companion - TULIP is your gal!

She has quick eating habits. She prefers her kibble soft/with water added instead of hard. We are still working on getting her to eat regularly. She prefers treats, wet canned food, or scrambled eggs over boring kibble 😅

She’s more likely to eat when the food is in her kennel and if humans are out of sight.

Tulip is still quite skittish. She usually will not initiate interactions with humans but if you pick her up and place her next to you, she will not move. We think it will take a lot of work before she feels 100% safe around her surroundings and care givers.
