Behaviors-
Cats: Interested/somewhat playful with our 3 cats, but otherwise non-reactive and respectful.
Other dogs: Mostly submissive and accepting of other dogs. We have an in-home grooming business, so she has had the opportunity to meet a good many dogs of various sizes and ages/temperaments and has done well with all of them.
Children: kids with caution. She has done well around children, but can still be easily startled.
Adults: Ju-Ju is friendly with everyone she meets. She does bark if unsure or startled by someone, but very quickly settles down once she sees they are non-threatening. She is still timid around people but is receptive to being pet if approached in an appropriate/non-threating manner and likes the attention.
Potty Training Progress: Ju-Ju has done well with potty training. We have had a few accidents. She needs to be watched to make sure she does her business while outside. Sometimes she needs a reminder of why we went out
Other behavioral info: Ju-Ju is a toy killer! She loves bones and is learning to play with toys. Normal plush toys and no match for her, especially if they contain squeakers. As such, she needs appropriate “tough” toys, or needs to be watched closely. Beyond that, she has not shown any inappropriate behavior.
Great things about Ju-Ju: She is a very calm dog. Somewhat timid but is starting to come out of her shell. She is starting to run in the backyard a bit and is showing some interest in playing with our other dogs. She will be a great dog for someone who doesn’t want to deal with a crazy puppy! She is quite content to just hang out in a calm quiet environment. She is likes attention, and likes to be close to her “people”, but is still cautious about being “cuddly”.
Other things to know about Ju-Ju: She comes from a background of 5 years in a large scale breeding operation. As such, house living is a totally new concept to her. She is adapting well, but is going to need more time to adapt to this new life. Obviously, she has pretty much no training. She has learned her name and does well with her recall. Beyond that we have not worked on any training. She likes treats, so training shouldn’t be hard. She walks amazingly well on a leash. She stays in a perfect heel while walking. She is not used to cars and gets scared walking around busy streets but is learning to adjust.
